Hon. Russell W. Hartigan, ret.

Judge Russell Hartigan, after stepping down from the bench to serve as the elected president of the 45,000 member Illinois State Bar Association, and addressing family health issues, Judge Hartigan once again wants to serve Illinosians as a Circuit Court Judge. During his six years judicial tenure, Judge Hartigan was known as a highly effective pre-trial mediator, helping lawyers and their clients resolve pending litigation through the mediation process. He was rated “Highly Recommended” by the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association for Circuit and Appellate Courts, and he brings a unique set of skills and experience to the bench.

Judge Hartigan has a rich background of community and public service including Berwyn Township Committeeman, President of Lyons Township Democratic Organization and Lyons Township Supervisor, Trustee and Township Trustee of Schools, and Trustee of the Village of Western Springs.

Judge Hartigan was a member of the Illinois Judges Association Executive Committee, The Illinois Supreme Court Judicial Performance Committee, a former member of the Illinois Supreme Court Pretrial Detainee Committee, and past president of the West Suburban Bar Association.
